History - Lopburi

Lopburi, originally known as Lavapuri, is one of Thailand's oldest cities, founded around 468 AD by Indian colonists. It served as a key center in the Buddhist Dvaravati network during the 7th and 8th centuries. Over the centuries, Lopburi has seen influences from various cultures, including the Khmer Empire. The remnants of these eras can be found throughout the city, showcasing its historical significance.
