Introduction
Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve features the tallest sand dunes in North America, rising over 700 feet. Visitors come to experience the unique landscape, which includes diverse ecosystems and opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking and sandboarding.
The park is located at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, providing a striking contrast between the dunes and the surrounding peaks. Many travelers appreciate the chance to stargaze in this remote area, as light pollution is minimal.
