Gothic architecture in the heart of the city
The Catedral da Sé is a great example of São Paulo's mix of architectural styles. This neo-Gothic cathedral, finished in 1913, has beautiful stained glass windows and tall spires that seem to touch the sky. You can check out the inside, where it's calm and quiet compared to the busy streets outside. Take a moment to sit on the steps and watch life go by. Just keep in mind it can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends, so it’s better to visit during the week for a more relaxed experience.
A green escape in the city
Parque da Independência is a nice break from the hustle and bustle of São Paulo. This big park is home to the Museu Paulista, which tells the story of Brazil. You can walk through the gardens and see locals having picnics or jogging along the paths. The park is especially beautiful in spring when the flowers are in bloom. Just be careful with your belongings, as petty theft can happen in crowded spots. Early mornings are the best time to enjoy the peace before the crowds show up.
Iconic bridge at sunset
The Ponte Estaiada, or Octavio Frias de Oliveira Bridge, is a stunning piece of modern engineering. Its unique design, with a cable-stayed structure, looks especially beautiful at sunset when the sky is filled with orange and pink hues. This bridge connects the neighborhoods of Morumbi and Vila Andrade, making it an important part of the city. While it’s a popular spot for photos, be careful of traffic when you visit. Parking around here is limited, so it’s a good idea to take public transport to get to this landmark.
