History
Santa Barbara was originally inhabited by the Chumash people before Spanish colonization in the 18th century. The city was founded in 1782 with the establishment of Mission Santa Barbara, which played a key role in the region's development. Over the years, Santa Barbara has evolved from a small mission town to a thriving city known for its cultural and architectural heritage. The 1925 earthquake led to significant rebuilding efforts, resulting in the distinctive Mission Revival style seen throughout the city today.
