History - Miami

Miami's growth began in the late 19th century, spurred by the arrival of Flagler's railroad. This connection opened up the area for development, leading to the establishment of Miami Beach and other nearby communities. The construction of the Overseas Highway further linked the Florida Keys to the mainland, facilitating tourism and trade.

However, a devastating hurricane in 1926 brought a halt to this rapid expansion, leading to a recession. The city's recovery was aided by support for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal, which helped rebuild the area and its economy.
