历史

Beja最早是罗马人的Pax Julia，这个名字源自尤利乌斯·凯撒时期的一份和平协议，后来发展成Lusitania道路网上的一个区域中心。你现在还能看到一些老城墙的残段，不过大部分是在罗马时代之后重建的。摩尔人统治了这座小镇好几个世纪，留下了他们的印记，直到1162年Afonso Henriques攻占了它。

Dom Diniz国王大约在1300年建起了那座宏伟的方形主塔，它高约40米，至今仍是葡萄牙最高的中世纪塔楼。1495年建的修道院，后来成了Queen Leonor博物馆，把Beja和宫廷、教会的生活联系在了一起。它一直是个农业重镇，如今这种农耕的节奏依然是它的底色。

夏天真的很热：七八月经常超过38摄氏度，尽量安排一大早出门。
很多地方中午和周一会关门，出发前先查一下营业时间。
公共交通不多：有火车和巴士通往Lisbon和Evora，但班次不频繁，有辆车会方便很多。
城堡和博物馆在重大节假日会关门，包括1月1日和12月25日。
